The landing gear cover skin has to be installed. According the plans this is done with rivets. However this removes the option to inspect the landing gear after a hard landing or during regular maintenance. There were incidents of cracks near the attachment bolts, those became visible after removing many rivets. Ideal would be a kind of inspection panel. However limited internal height limits the option of just installing rivnuts or nutplates. A smarter design was required and a prototype made.
