Improvement of the backing plates for the nav lights.
By design the nav lights get installed with 2 M3 bolts and rivnuts with a backing plate for extra strength. However the rivnut is not flush so the rubber seal won’t sit flush either. The rubber seal of the rudder tail light was modified so that the holes were large enough to sit around the rivnut. But due to the narrow shape of the nav lights this is not possible here:
The backing plate was redesigned, 1 plate with the rivnuts and 1 filler plate on top to have a flush surface:
A drill template was used to drill the required holes:
Finally the plates were glued with Proseal and installed with countersink rivets:
