Flap and elevator torque tubes

After the control sticks it was time to test fit the flap en elevator torque tubes and make them run with minimum resistance.

The bushings are perfect and spin freely round the tubes. However the tube is not perfect straight and the 4 brackets are not in aligned perfectly and needed opening a little bit. To decide where to remove some material from the brackets I marked the tube with a permanent marker, installed the tube and rotated it. After removal it’s easy to see where it’s binding and where to open up the bracket a bit with the Dremel:

After many iterations both tubes run smooth enough for now. I will not rivet the brackets in place, this allows final adjustment when the skins are on and the plane is on it’s wheels:
