Primer / corrosion experiment [after 1 month]

A month ago I started a primer / corrosion experiment, after 1 month it’s time to review the experiment.

The aluminium samples remained outside while it’s winter in the Netherlands, daily they were sprayed with salt water and weekly rinsed with hot tap water.
Here an image of the result:

Conclusion after 1 month:
– without primer the aluminium corrodes quickly
– epoxy primer is better than wash primer (especially the hot tap water removed the wash primer partly)
– Alodine is very good for corrosion protection and primer sticks much better
– wash primer on anodized aluminium doesn’t stick, epoxy primer is much better here (so no wash primer for the anodized wing spars)

I will continue the experiment…
